Volunteer Action Network is a non-governmental organization established in 2005 to empower women and girls in Uganda through socio-economic, health education, and leadership programs, creating opportunities while strengthening families and communities. It seeks to offer women leadership development and empowerment abilities required to lead successful dignified lives.
WHY WE DO IT
We develop local-based strategies that produce reductions in poverty and the marginalization of women and girls in Uganda by providing economic, health education, and leadership opportunities for sustainability and self-determination.
We support women and girls in Uganda with tools, resources and opportunities for sustainable development, self-determination, leadership & empowerment.
Our comprehensive selection of targeted programs and support services include business skills training, micro-loans, adult literacy education, legal Aid services, health education, and leadership development programs designed to strengthen social systems, amplify women's voices, reduce poverty and illiteracy.
When women are empowered economically they participate in decision making at home and this boosts their self esteem
